My engine is coming together, but I have a question on con rods. My machinist says mine are "lightweight" stock rods. I brought them home to polish before they are stress relieved and resized. The rods are 5.7" with a pressed in wrist pin. They're from a chevy truck two bolt main, low compression. I am aiming for about 350 hp @5000, 420lb torque @3500. This is a pretty mild engine, but I need to know if the rods will hold up.Has anyone had any experience with them.

you should be ok with the chevy rods , ihave seen many people run much more hp. with stock rods with no bad results,

by all means use arp brand rod bolts,..

BE SURE when you install the rods on the crank to place the flat sides together on the same journal,

that is,... if you look carefully at each rod you will see the large end (crank end) one side is flat around the bearing edge,... and the other side is radiused or cut differently,

IF, you have pistons to be pressed on that HAVE FORWARD facing marks (only one side should face front of motor) be sure to gather up and configure all rods and pistons before pressing them on at a shop,

dont mix caps !!, keep all rods together with their original removable caps!

good luck buddy!!!

Like the previous post said, you should be fine with the rods at that hp. And, to reiterate what was advised, make sure you spend the money on the rod bolts, because that is where most of the failures occur, not on the rod itself.
