Pics of my Hybrid throttle cable

A fella on here wanted to know how i did my pedal assembly for my TPI throttle cable. I took a couple of pics today and thought i'd share.

Basically i cut the tip off my Trans Am pedal assy that has the hole for the cable tip and welded it to my datsun pedal assy. I did a good bit of figuring on how far to put the tip from the pivot point to get full travel of the butterflies at WOT. Turned out perfect on the first attempt. Maybe dumb luck.

Forgot to measure today from the pivot to the tip. I'll get it tommorrow and repost here. I'll also try to translate that into what the linear travel equals to from rest to WOT.

The second pic shows the cable passing thru the firewall. i just took a square file and shaped the hole to match the cable clip. I snaps right in. Been working great for over a year.

take care

Nope no adjustment needed. Stock '86 Trans Am throttle cable. Nothing cut to fit. In the perfect world i'd like the whole assembly to be ~4" shorter 'cause it just has a little extra between the firewall and engine. See what i mean.

I did have to make sure the travel of the tip of the pedal assy equaled the travel needed to make the throttle blades to go from idle to WOT. On my '73, i welded the tip on so it was ~6" from the pedal's pivot point which gave ~2" of cable travel from rest to full throttle, which is what the TPI needs.

Taking the time to get that right has allowed me to use an off the shelf factory throttle cable for 2 years now with no problems.
