Guest Anonymous
WOW , I picked my heads today, and the 202/160 valves fill the whole bowl. They are almost exactly even with the deck while closed. Stupid me , but is that right?, and how can I accuratly check the clearence. I have flatop pistons with valve reliefs. I dont want to screw this up this early in the game. Thanks for the help, Tony
Guest Anonymous
What I've done when assembling an engine is to put lightweight springs on the valves and bolt the heads to the block,(snug, not tight, with only 3 bolts), without a head gasket. Turn the engine over to TDC one cylinder at a time and push the valves down until they contact the piston with your fingers while holding a metal ruler next to the valve keeper. The head gasket thickness is a "safety factor" and I leave it out of the measurement.
