Guest 71Datsun240zMN
I'm planning to swap a LT1 motor in my 71' Z. Would i have to change the whole rear end to a camaro or could i use the stock rear end of the Z? Thanks
wheelman
The answer depends on what you plan to do with the car. If you intend on drag racing and getting into the 10 second or faster range then you will have to switch to a solid axle rearend. If you are going for a milder setup or road racing then you can switch your R180 differential to an LSD or swap it out for an R200. Do you have the JTR (jagsthatrun.com) Datsun swap manual? If not then get it. If you have it there is information in it regarding an adapter that can be used to mate a GM drive shaft to a Datsun differential. Use the search feature of the site, you'll be amazed at the depth of information at your finger tips. Wheelman
Guest 71Datsun240zMN
Thanks, i'm just starting to work on Z's. I normally work on Honda's and newer cars but these old cars are a little confusing.
