Guest 83supaZ
i was just wondering... can you put turbo on a carbureator setup? like a l28e from a 83 280z with a 71 240z carb/manifold setup... if so what else would you have to change? the reg manifold to a 71 240z carbureatored turbo manifold? lol i never really payed attention to if any turbos had carbs.... also could you guys make a sticky on the parts necessary to swap a L28E to a L28ET? that would be helpful to alot of ppl. thanks for any help
Guest bastaad525
Yes you can turbo a carb setup, it's been done, though most have had only so-so results with this kind of setup, citing that it was a pain to tune right or keep running well. I've seen a custom one off that a guy did using only one SU, but he admitted this ran way lean any time he hit boost. There is another setup I've seen pics of (some Z in australia) running dual SU's, custom manifold and such of course... no idea if that was a one off or a kit but I got the impression it was something you could buy at one time... lord knows where though. Most people agree if you really want to go turbo it's just not worth trying with the SU's, when you can do an L28ET swap cheaper, easier, and have it be more reliable. There is a sticky on swapping to an L28ET in the Turbocharger/Supercharger section of these forums. Also, let me be the first (possibly of many) to say, use the search function liberally.... TONS upon TONS of info to be had, days worth of reading literally, on this subject
