Guest Zachb55
Hey guys, i got a problem. I just bought a VERY used Electronic distributor with the E12-80 module on it and i had to replace most of the internals of the distributor just to get it to look like its in running condition. now i've hooked everything up like all the web content has told me and i dont get the slightest hint of a spark . Is there ANY way to test this module on my own with a digital multimeter? other then just looking for the production of spark, cause that isnt happening... If not then is it common for these to burn out? should i just replace it with a NOS part or is it gonna cost me a fortune? let me know, im already out way more then i wanted to be on this dizzy... Thanks for any replies you may have! -Zach

Guest Zachb55
Hey, thanks a million for that!!! while going through those tests i ended up at a dead end with the coil having zero resistance. what i then realized was i hadnt changed to an internal resistor coil of the right type, and on top of that it was a parts store dime-a-dozen part which probably is already wearing out anyways. i assume when you take out the ballast resistor yet still are using the externally resisted coil there would be a problem somewhere... imma get a new coil and try that. if you dont think this should be a problem then please tune in, thanks again, -Zach
Guest Zachb55
i talked to a guy about this today and he said that he's seen many cases where this was cured by running a ground wire from the distributor to the chassis. tried it and the thing is working great. im selling it on ebay right now though, so i think imma head in a different route. -Zach
