Guest mescalinedreamz
i have a haltech f9a which is a step up from the f9. The manual states that i can use a 5 wire wideband o2 sensor. I would just have to remove the back cover off the haltech and install a jumper shunt. The jumper would switch the current from 1v(narrowband o2) to 5v(wideband o2) The problem is......all the haltech support forums that im envolved with tell me that i need a wideband kit. Like a do it yourself kit. Innovative sells one etc. Why? Why are they telling me i need a kit when the f9a instructions are telling me that i can use the wideband? The haltech manual just says to contact their support if the jumper shunt needs to be installed for the wideband. I have had a wideband o2 sensor sitting on my kitchen table for a week now. Hugh
The wideband sensor controllers most important function is regulating the temperature of the wideband sensor. If you don't have anything that can regulate it right, then it won't read anything correctly. I haven't seen any standalone that can control the sensor itself... I wanted to do the same thing with my Tec3, but Electromotive also told me I must have a controller. I bought the Innovate Motorsports unit, it kicks ass!!
