another type of datsun hybrid.

hey guys, i was just wondering if yu could give me a quick hand with a posible datsun hybrid project i might want to tackle once i get back from bootcamp.

 

okay heres the story. i have recetnly found a person willing to give me her sons 198? datsun 210 2dr coupe for free. the only hitch is her son had lost the title but i think i might be able to get around that with some elbow grease and sweet words in the right places. as of now i have a 280ZX that iam am stripping down to get ready to drop in a twin turbo dodge 360 motor into it. this is going to be a race only vehicle so i've been kinda looking around for something to use as a fun daily driver. right now my daily driver car is a 87 t-bird turbocoupe, this is a VERY fast card for only having a 2.3 four banger in it and weighs in at an astounding 4300LBS. i thnk it can do a 14-15 sec 1/4 ET right now and i've barely even gotten into the potential of this motor.

 

can you see where i'm goign with this i'm thinking about swapping out the tbird motor into the datsun 210. also since my ZX is a race nly vehicle i could aslo swap the stock setup of of it onto the 210 giving me a big boost in braking power. the main reason besides weight that makes me want to get rid of the t-bird is just the fact that i can't do much too it. nobody makes any ground effects, i have the autoride so i can't get any performance struts or lowering springs for it, for such a big car it has suprisingly little interior space, and for a four banger it get pretty crappy gas mileage (18-22 in town).

 

i want to do a pinto swap but i can't find any out where i live, i've even searched most of the nearby towns as well. besides this 210 there is a abandoned datsun in a nearby town tht is older but looks like a sporty compact car, it didn't have any tags or emblems on it so i can't tell you what it was could you guys point me in the right direction? what models would make for a fun daily driver swap? it doesn't have to be limited to datsun but some smaller, lighter than most and of course RWD. i'm looking for something in the 1900-2400 LBS range. thanks guys i appreciate the help.
