I'm buildning my own adjustable coilover setup and it's always very interesting reading here at Hybrid Z! Just for fun, does anyone know the OEM spring rates for the z-series? ThomaZ Posted January 2, 2005 Share Posted January 2, 2005 Hej Peter, According to Bob Waars book â€How to hotrod and race your Datsun†page 149 the 240Z European spring rates (Stage 1) are 100 lbs front and 112 lbs rear. Those spring rates are said to be an approximate 21 % increase in front and 11% increase in the rear over the U.S. spring rates. The book further states that the 240Z European spring rates (Stage 2) are 122 lbs front and 140 lbs rear. This has been discussed before; a search on “spring rates†brought up 168 hits…. Guest Phil1934 Posted January 2, 2005 Share Posted January 2, 2005 I cut four coils in front so guess I'm about 167 #/" there. The rear feels very soft so I want to go to 225#/". Does anyone sell just the spring in stock diameter if I don't want to change everything? Ride height in the rear is fine, I could live with 1" lower but no more. Guest Petez240 Posted January 6, 2005 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Okay, thanks guys! It seemed liked my 160 lbs was a bit to heigh, and ThomaZ proved that. There are several possible reasons: - the spring was measured still mounted on the car - no concern has been taken on the support from the other wheels - no concern has been taken on the support from the Tokico strut this will probably lover the rate with 0.7-0.8 and get me closer to the figures stated in the â€How to hotrod and race your Datsun†Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
