My buddy got to borrow one so..

Well what can I say... It was really fun...

but I got to say overall it was very dissappointing.. is this a true sports car? I think I had more fun in a Miata...

7500rpm for peak torque?? 7000 rpm i start feeling the engine and at 9000 rpm I hit the limiter..

Anyone else have anything to say about this car?

I gotta admit it is *bling* *bling*.. got plently of stares from asian babes... 2thumbs.gif2thumbs.gif

and whats up with the gearing? is it made for touring?

Yeah, thats my big issue is the torque. My del sol Vtec was similar, catch it in the wrong gear and watch people run off and leave you. Downshift a few times and you leave them.

I think you'd need to define what a 'sportscar' is. Is it the english sportscars that started things, if so, they don't rev much, didn't have huge horsepower but were light and nimble. Cars similar to that IMHO is like the Miata, it has a nice little hump in its powerband at about 4000 rpms and revs nicely to a moderate redline.

Then theres the german school of though, motor in the rear, push in the corners, but boost a boxer and whoa baby your hauling ass. I'm not sure, but don't think they redline super high either.

This high rev deal is just a offshoot IMHO of Honda's motorcycle developement over the years, they built a 6 cylinder grand prix 250cc motorcycle that ran at 22,000 rpm's in the early sixties. Can you imagine 6 - 50 cent piece sized pistons basically vibrating more than stroking up to 22k? Crazyness.

I guess it does everything pretty well, but I noticed when it first came out, many of the reports were from a bit of time in the seat on a racetrack and everyone gushed about it. Put the thing in some bad twisty canyons and you'd be shifting gears like a wildman trying to keep up with something that has some torque. Just an opinion, yes I'd still take a free one, I'll give the address if anyone has one for nothing (an asian babe would work rather nicely about now... or maybe I should say a breathing babe would do nicely about now... ;) ).

Regards,

Lone

Hey Lone,

I saw one of the very 6 cyl. 2-stroke bikes your talking about a few years ago at the Laguna Seca Superbike races. They had it sitting in the pits with 6 exhaust pipes, that thing looked sick!

I was walking away from it when I heard a deafening, screaming, shrill of an engine behind me. That thing is Sooooooooo LOUD!!!! You can't scream loud enough to the person next to you to have a conversation. It's a very strange yet extremely cool sounding engine. I think the guy also did one lap around the track but it was the sound of that anti-social beast reving up in the pits that will be forever etched in my mind.
