ezzzzzzz
I don't have access to a CV half shaft so I can't decern this myself. I've done some searching just to look at a CV half shaft but figure someone out here can look at a shaft assembly in hand. Maybe someone else has thought of this? What I'm asking is can a CV half shaft be disassembled then reassembled using extra parts such that you end up with a bolt-on assembly at both ends? I was thinking that someone like Moser Engineering could fab the splined shaft to build a custom assembly, if necessary. If this were possible then R180 diff flanges (bolt-on) could be made similar to the MM modified stub axle flanges. This would allow CV's to be run on early R180, longer and equal length shafts, etc.
Modern Motorsports Ltd
We're already making custom centre male male splined CV sections for our R230 package and can easily make any other CV related parts (housings/axles/flanges etc). We've already got someone working with us on an R180 CV solution. We don't expect it to be hugely popular (being an R180) but their has been some specific needs for this from a few we've worked with on other setups. If you've got an idea for a custom piece feel free to drop us a line, if you'd seen our new billet CV and R230 parts etc you'd appreciate what you suggest is easily within our scope. ezzzzzzz
Ross, I plan to use the bolt-in style CV side flanges from a 720 4x4 R180A front diff to convert to the CV axles. I haven't pulled the diff yet but it appears that the bolt pattern (six bolts w/every two closely spaced). I'm thinking that the CV is the same that used on the 280ZXT, at least as far as bolt pattern goes. If so, then I need only your flanges to complete the transistion. Do you know the answer or can you supply the basic dimensions of the 280ZXT bolt pattern so I can determine this? The only other issue is shaft length and you say that can easily be fabricated by MM. Sooo close!
