Alsa Corp paint

has anyone here used this http://alsacorp.com/paints.htm . Or has seen the final product ? I like the base coats and candies. I'll be painting my Z in about 2 weeks.

It's good stuff. I've used their "stylin' basecoats". I'm doing a paint job with one of them in the next week or two.

Also how well did it cover? Will 1 gt of base and 1 qt of reducer cover the exterior and door jams ?

So far I've only used the "stylin basecoats", but I plan to give the candy's a try sooner or later.

 

It covers as well as any other paint.

 

I seriously doubt a quart of base will do the job. I usually use at least gallon reduced (2qts before reduction) to do a full color change, and it's best to have extra onhand. Just buy a gallon and if you have extra you can sell it or keep it for future use.

 

If you want to split a gallon with me we can do that. You can get an empty can from a local paint store and send me a 1/2 gallon.

 

What color are you using?

Magnum Rockwilder, I am doing a complete color change. So I'll need 1 gallon of base and 2 qt of med reducer? I assume. Color I "think" I'll be doing one of the two blues.

I'll just tell you what I would get if I were painting your car:

 

1 gallon Alsa base (you'll only use 1/2 gallon for a full color change on a Z)

 

1/2-1 gallon medium reducer from local paint store (you'll use 1/2 gallon, but it's sometimes cheaper to buy a gallon)

 

1 gallon clearcoat from local paint store (I use DuPont, but choose whatever you want)

 

Whatever reducer, hardener, or activator you need for the clear. The shop will sell you what you need. Just ask for a "clear coat kit".

 

I get DuPont Nason clear for $65 for the whole kit(for el-cheapo paint jobs), or DuPont Chromaclear High Glamour(the good stuff) for $175.

 

If you want, I'll buy a gallon of Alsa Aqua Blue and send you a 1/2 gallon for $100 shipped. It's normally $123 for 1/2 gallon if you order it as 2 quarts and pay the shipping.

 

I can order it from them, then divide it and send you your half. Let me know. I'll be placing an order with them next week and I need Aqua Blue.
