Guest tony78_280z
I did a search for "shift" & "lever" i got a mere 12 hits. One here in which an anonymous said Jags That Run cover this in they're manual (our 'bible' around here for many of us). Theres involves using the stock rod and building a mount on the tranny to mount the datsun shifter. Its shows pretty much what needs to be done to use it. FWIW. Can anyone para-phrase or send my the cliff notes for this chapter? Who can give me more description and diagrams for this process. BTW I'm installing a 700r4, but I never had a real shifter set up before.
Guest 305240
I could be wrong on this, but I believe the stock Datsun auto shifter can be used, Just take the rod off and change the whole shifting bracket to the other side. It should work.
Guest tony78_280z
I supose I should mention that I never had an old datsun lever. I had a 5 speed manual. I ganked a shifter lever from a camaro, and I am tryin to figure out how to link it up.
Guest cap110680
if you have a welder you can do what i did. i got an old 4 speed hurst floor shifter kit (for a manuel) and got a shifter cable out of an 80's automatic front wheel drive car ( i think i got mine out of a dodge colt) and rig up some brackets. it only tookme about 2 hours of fabrication and it looks like a 4 speed but i have a 700r4 as well. i drilled a hole in the shifter lever and put a spring loaded pin in the drive position. work great but i can only shift into second gear because of the shifter travel. i think it looks soooo cool... i willl get some pics up soon to give you an idea. later chris

Guest 77vegasz
Pick up a B&M to work with your selected trans and a cable. It will make a much nicer set up when you are finished, unless you really want the stock look. Jon
