VinhZXT
Hi all, I have a friend who has a Ford C4 3 speeds auto tranny and it won't kick into 2nd or 3rd gear. There is a vacuum selenoid in attach to the tranny and there is 2 vacuum lines going to it. He has only 1 vacuum line hook up to one of the line to the selenoid (or vacuum diaghram) and the other is capped. Anyone have any experience with this tranny? If so how should it hook up? Thanks for any help
Guest 305240
Vinh, I've run the C-4s for years in different fords. I can't tell you about the newer ones, but the ones I've used only had 1 vacume line. This line went to what I call the modulater. It's located on the right rear of the tranny, just behind the pan. Whenever Ive had a problem with it not shifting, I had to change the modulater because it was sucking tranny fluid into my intake. This caused two things, #1, it didn't shift, and #2, the tranny fluid made the rubber hose soft and not hold vacume and it kept slipping off. Sorry, this is all the advice I can give you. Hopefully, someone else can chime in here and help.
