Guest Gillez260ZT
Hi everyone, Has anyone here ever had MAP sensor problems on their Electromotive TEC2? Here's my story: I have completed my install of a TEC2 on my turbocharged 260Z (280ZX turbo drivetrain). I used new sensors everywhere and everything seems to be in working order but the car won't start. I finally notice that my MAP sensor is giving false readings. At key on, it's reading 120kpa, which is about 3psi too high. I thought my sensor was faulty but then I unplugged it, and instead of having it show up in the 'failed' column in the monitor screen, it reads 30kpa! I disconnected the wires at the TEC and it still reads 30kpa with nothing hooked up to it. I phoned Electromotive today and they told me to try and get it to show up as failed on the monitor screen. I changed my minimum and maximum sensor voltages for my MAP sensor to try and get it to fail and use a default value for my MAP reading and it still shows 30kpa with the sensor disconnected. I placed the minimum and maximum values 0.1V apart so there's no way it would be good but it didn't work. They also recommended I try using a base bin instead of mine to be sure the problem wasn't with my bin file, but the same thing happens. It sees a MAP sensor signal even though there's nothing hooked up to it. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my TEC. Did anyone here ever deal with Electromotive for such repairs? If I remove the TEC from my car and ship it to them, I want to be positive before I do that the problem is with the TEC2 and not with my installation. Although by disconnecting the sensor and wiring it pretty much narrows it down to the TEC as far as I can see. If I disconnect any other sensor (IAT, CT, TPS) it immediately shows up in the 'failed' column of the monitor screen and the default value is used. Thanks in advance for your advice, Gilles Lajoie
