I have rebuilt 40DCOE18 (by Pierce Manifolds) on my L28 that has mild cam in E88 head and CR of about 10.2:1. I'm having this "what came first the chicken or the egg" problem. I set my initial advance to 18 deg and my idle roams from 1000 to 1300 rpm. So whats causing it? If the problem is with the ignition system than that can change the idle but if the problem is in the carbs than that can change my timing. I have gone through the procedure of setting up the carbs and I have regulated my fuel pressure to 2.5 lbs. I have tried a little higher but it didn't make a difference. The PO added electronic ignition (XR700). There are no vacuum leaks either.
