Guest ProfessorRog
http://www.bikerboyz.com This is quite unfair, this movie is opening right when I'm planning to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class to get my motorcycle endorsement. I can see the fast and furious intellectuals quickly removing themselves from the gene pool attempting to copy what they see and all the while hiking up motorcycle insurance premiums for new riders in my age group. Guest Anonymous
I see what you mean Prof, this film certainly appeals to the same crowd. Just the fact that the title has "Boyz" in it rather disgusts me. Its no Easy Rider, that's for sure. But do you really think it will draw the same mainstream retroactivity among motorcycle enthusiests? A short while ago my brother decided to buy an R6 and take a similar course, he needed a speed fix I suppose. Anyway his bike got stolen, as he had to park it outside his apartment in California. So that was over pretty quick, he's back to sport compacts. The response from F&F was just appalling, being 17 myself I lost serious respect for any of my peers who were so malleable by simple Hollywood glam. I bet the sport compact aftermarket companies made as much as the movie did. Although I bet local traffic court revenue was even greater for those cocky street-racing %%@%$ The question is should Rob Cohen (among others) should have been punished, or are we to blame the overly-impressionable youth of america? CrotchRockets are hell-of-a-lot more dangerous than rice rockets. I'm guessing this movie won't feature the stars wearing good leather and pads and helmets and whanot, that's not fashionable. If there's a sucker born every minute, then I'm not so opposed to having a few thousand removed from the gene pool when hollywood tells them its okay to race streetbikes -980mak
Guest ProfessorRog
Well, I truly doubt it will be as far-reaching as the F&F was for the sport compact scene due to the simple fact that most high school age kids can only get their hands on what their parents are willing to buy, but I'm sure there are plenty of impressionable "kids" in their early twenties who will fail to respect the fact that recklessly riding around at blistering speeds on two wheels without any type of restraint can be quite hazardous to your health. I already have to pay insurance companies through the nose for the collective stupidity of youth, I was just a touch bothered when I realized how this movie might provide the possibility for these companies to add even more to their premiums just when I'm starting to gather an interest in riding.
