Guest Anonymous
I've heard about the early and late model versions of the 71 240Z, and I was wondering what is the difference between them? Is one better for V8 conversions than the other and are there any other pluses or drawbacks to one or the other? Thanks ahead of time I know you guys know your stuff =P. Guest Anonymous
Dan. there are suspension differences in the 1974 early and late 260 Z. The early 260 has a 240 suspension and the later has a slightly larger 280 dimensioned suspension primarily in the struts. As for any difference impediments to performance is open to strong debate. The 1970-71 Z's had the differential set about 1 3/8 inch forward causing vibration and premature u joint wear. The fix is simple..move it back with a 1972 or later mustache bar and rear suspension crossmember. No doubt there are subtle and hidden differences in the 1970-78 Z but none that I am aware to split major hairs over in a V8 conversion.
