Guest bastaad525
it WAS fuel starvation, and it WAS the fuel pump. But, I was also wrong too Originally I had thought it was something wrong with his fuel pump... he has an electrical pump mounted at the tank, and I was thinking maybe it was on it's way out or that there was a clog in the system somewhere. Turns out, that pump is just a feeder pump. He had also had the stock mechanical pump in place when he first bought the car, but figured the electric pump would be enough (I would have thought so too??? I mean it's not like the mechanical pump flows that much on it's own either). Funny it only clicked in my head way later... I hadn't even noticed the mechanical pump was 'missing' (being a 260 it seemed 'right', I thought 260's only had the electric pump anyways?)... when I finally asked about it and realized it wasn't there and he mentioned it HAD been there before. So he put it back in and now the car is running fantasically.. no more high speed bogging on the freeway. The great thing is that in pursuit of that problem I actually came across a few others and was able to correct them, such as misadjusted float levels (actually, almost every adjustment on those SU's was off at least slightly), and way retarded ignition timing, so having fixed those things the car is running even better now. So... this is a great feeling (don't mind the bit of bragging guys, please!) that A) that I was able to help figure out and fix the problem, and I was finally able to 'give something back' to the HybridZ community ! I mean, I've had help from people here so many times, especially from Tim240z who has lent me his driveway, tools, and quite a few hours of his own labor to help me out with my own car, even though he had plenty to do on his Z at the time. So it's a great feeling to finally have had someone from these boards that *I* could help. And on top of all that... I remembered just how much I love SU's Easiest...carbs....on earth... EVAR!
