jgkurz
That is a great thread and explains very well how a 3" DP is overkill for use with a stock T3 turbo. I can testify that with my Scottie 2.5" downpipe I made 360RWHP and 427RWTQ. With better tuned AFR ratio's I think I could have made more. My turbine housing is a Nissan .63 with the 10-blade stage V wheel and a 2.5" outlet. I believe I can gain a few ponies by transitioning to 3" right off the flange so my whole exhaust is 3" mandrel. For me it might be the difference of 15 RWHP. That's only my guess.
Guest Pete Z Racing
I did not try my Downpipe on a ZX with a T5 tranny. I will sell one for cost to someone that is willing to try the fit and provide me with feedback. Pete Money back if it does not fit.
EZ-E
I hope that you didnt take it as I was downing your DP, because I was not, it is a very nice piece and would do excellent for anyone with a stock turbo. What I was just getting at is in the ZX, at least for me, using a T3/TO4E turbo, I did make a 3 inch DP, and it had to be done with 2 90 degree bends, then a slight 30 degree bend by the transmission heading out toward the back. I would love to have bought something like what you have there to just bolt do my car. Fitting and cutting and adjusting and welding and back again is a royal pain in the arse. The second DP pictured with that attached wastegate looks like it would fit. less the attachment to the lower portion of the DP from the wastegate. For something like that to fit you would have to move the turbo forward in the ZX. Pete you should get someone to see you with a ZX turbo you will see the room is extremely limited. If I didnt have my 3 inch DP already I would definetly take you up on your offer.
Guest Pete Z Racing
EZ-E No I did not take it wrong. This DP is for stock manifold and turbo. I did not try it on a ZX /T5 combo and would like to have it tried. Thanks for your input. Pete

EZ-E
Now Pete if you could make a nice exhaust manifold I would love to talk to you about that as I can see the qaulity of work you put into what you make. Any possibilities of that happening?
Drax240z
The stock turbo has a 1 5/8" outlet hole so 2.5" is plenty for flow. Not disputing that a 2.5" DP is plenty for most applications, however I am 98% sure that I measured the stock turbo outlet at 2 1/8". GrayZee
Actually I thought it was 2 and 3/8, it's over 2" for sure anyway.
