ratedZ
Wow what a rush....driving with my wife in the old turbo Z to get some gas minding my own business. In the distance I see two cars that seems to be coming up fairly quickly. One was an all black Supra with an aluminum wing and an all white Supra with what looked like an intercooler up front. Both these cars are probably 89? It wasn't the old one but the model before the new one...not sure what years. Anyway, the white one comes up on my left and the black one goes on the emergency lane and they box me in. Where on an open road late at night so cars where minimal and the road was clear. I was actually pissed off with the crap that the black Supra pulled as he was on the shoulder revving his motor and pacing my Z. I took a look at the wife to give her the heads up and she gives me the nod. Dropped it to third, spooled 13psi and made my wheels spin out of control until the car stopped fish tailing and finally hooked. The Supras did the same and I walked passed both of them. Light comes up, now the black Supra is on my tail and the white still on my left. I rev, they rev....light turns green and I dusted the crap out of both of them with a lot of wheel spin. Feeling the tension of being caught racing I slow down and let these dumb asses pass me. We go on our way and stop to get the gas I needed. Before we leave, I see them coming up and I though "oh crap" what are these guys up to now. Anyway, to make a long story short, they pulled up next to my Z and they wanted to know what I had under the hood....I just looked at them and smiled "it's stock" lol. It was priceless...turns out both Supras where bone stock (minus cone filter) with all the flash ie. pillar gauges, stickers ect. Looks like two more has fallen victem to my lowly Z

Tony240ZT
Very cool story, the supras you speak of are MKIII's `86-`92, `87-`92 if turboed. I own an `87 turbo with an auto tranny, put on an HKS 65mm exhaust system, cone filter, and boost controler. The turbo/intercooled 7m-gte does a great job of making power, but the cars are super heavy, like 4000 pounds. Stock turbo 1/4 mile times are mid 15's I think at around 7 pounds of boost, they can run 11 psi before fuel cut which only gets them into the low 15's to high 14's. Great engine, but such a heavy car, and the engine management system isn't setup well to get a lot of power easily. The engine should do nicely in my `72 240Z with the wolf3d stand alone EMS. Watch out for supra guys that have gone to a T66 turbo, HKS VPC, larger injectors, fuel system, aftermarket FMIC, etc. The cars come from the factory with 4.10:1 LSD rear end, tons of room for larger wheels/tires, one hell of a tranny, and can really lay the power down. Since I'm a supra owner I think I have the right to say that most supra people think they have the ultimate car on the road (big headed), and to kill one in a street race has got to be loads of fun. Guest Anonymous
I don`t really get many races on the street anymore either.I had a pretty fun run in with a Ford Lighting recently when i was on my drag radials i didn`t shoot any nitrous but i managed to embarass him with my turbo anyway. I have had go arounds with modified 3rd gen Supra`s myself a time or two and even though they are big fat heavy cars they were impressive.( still beat them though). GOOD KILL
