Guest SuperDave2085
Well as long as i've had a z car i've always looked at all the neat things you guys do over here. I finally have a conversion question that i hope some of the gurus can answer. I have an 85 300zx NA Automatic, i have found a engine/transmission out of a 85 300zx na Manual. The engine in the automatic is toast. The pervious owner apparently ran with a blown head gasket for a while. So i bought it complete for $400. I was wondering what if anything has to be done to be able to mount the Engine from the manual up to the auto. So far i've come to the conclusion that i need to remove the pilot bushing, and mount the auto as i would normally. Any thing else? Are the bell housings the same? Does it even matter if they arent? The only reason why im doing this is i've gotten an awesome deal on the engine. Thanks for listening guys, Dave!
Dave88SS
Here is the auto -> manual swap. If should be able to back out what you need to get. I'll save my comments about doing all that work just to keep an automatic I don't think there's anything other than the pilot bushing you need to change. But it's been many moons since I did my conversion. http://lootz.z31.com/board/read.php3?id=266662&srf=faqyou
mtcookson
there might be some electronic gizmos that need changed over. i know the maxima used a different idle air control valve between the auto and manual models due to them having different air requires to idle.
