Guest Anonymous
Hey guy's and gals Here's the scenario: A little while back I guess I thought that my car was running a little too good so I filled her with diesel (oops). I only drove it around an 1/8 of a mile and then parked it not relizing what I had done. The next day I go to start it and nothing. Well to make a long story short, I finally relized what I had done. I got all of the diesel out of the tank, filled it back up with the good stuff, and added some octane boost to help out. I've got bright blue spark, it geeting fuel, I put new plugs in, and I have set it to top dead center numerous times but still nothing. The only thing I haven't done is to pull the front cover and see if the chain jumped a few teeth (I don't see how it could though). Well, thanks in advance for all the help and soory for the loooong post. Z-ya Cole
Mike kZ
You should take your carb off and clean it out real good. there my still be Diesel in the bowls, and may have coated everything in there.

I have already cleaned the carb out well and I have also tried ether in the carb. I have also shot oil down in the cylinders in case i washed them down with fuel. Thanks again. Guest pauli
try replacing the fuel filter and checking the fuel lines.
Kevin Shasteen
I hate to tell you this, but, if the other suggestions dont help; you may have to pull the tank & the metal fuel lines and have them boiled; you may need to replace the rubber fuel lines-if applicable. I've had a P/Up that sat for some time before I decided to use it again; the tanks had water in them; I must have added octane boosters & fuel cleaners to the carb for a month before the engine finally quit missing. I went thru multiple tanks of gas & it still would misfire-telling me there were still deposits of moisture in the carb. Try the other suggestions first & if that doesnt work then pull the tanks & metal fuel lines. If it comes to the point where you feel you need to pull the tank to have them boiled...ask a local auto dealership-they have insurance claims all the time where someone vandalized someones car by putting substances in a car's fuel tank that doesnt belong...they can point you in the right direction. The carb may just have reminants of diesel in it....a little diesel will actually clean things; but a whole tank full...good luck.
Mike kZ
Maybe you have too much oil in the cylinders, and it's fouling the plugs. Try taking the coil wire off and turn over the engine for a while. Check your plugs again too.
DavyZ
Love that sticky diesel fuel! Coats everything with an oily type stuff... To start a stubborn engine, I use fast starting fluid from a spray can and let it go sraight into the open carb. Works great unless you get a backfire and blow out a power valve or singe your eyebrows. I use the stuff and it works quite well, but I'm definitely heads up when I use it, though. If you have cleaned your fuel lines and cleaned out the carb, there should be ignition.
Guest JAMIE T
When you changed the plugs, did you do them one at a time or all at the same time? Have you checked the firing order to a manual? If all of the above is correct, Try starting it with carb cleaner, have a friend spray it into the carb while you crank the engine., It should at least fire with carb cleaner. If you are running a Holley you can fill the float bowls with gas through the vents on top, possibly the same with a Q-jet or an AFB(Edelbrock)
