TheNeedForZ
I wonder has anyone lightened their L series con rods? In David Vizard's book he said he has lightened stock Chevy rods to around 550gram. Typical lightening job takes the Chevy rods to high 500gram mark and the rods will withstand up to 475 hp. Now remember chevy rods are longer than Nissan L rods. I measured my L24 rods at 720gram with bolts and nuts, or 640gram without bolts and nuts. I suppose it is possible to get L rods down to at least 550 gram?
thehelix112
Playing with fire. Race prepping a stock rod is well covered in How to Modify Nissan OHC. Can't go too far wrong with a tried and true formula? Dave
Mack
yeah, I think there is a reason 6 stock prepped nissan rods can handle 600 road race HP and 8 prepped stock chevy rods can only handle 475. I wouldnt touch them to tell the truth.
