Guest 421 Z
damn that sucks...did you really want the original vintage wheels? otherwise american racing sells them in different styles as the Torq Thrust...couldve maybe saved you all the time searching.http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=168&name=Torq%20Thrust%20II%20Custom%20Offset%20(chrm%20center)&style=C405&desc=2-piece%20alloy,%20polished%20rim,%20chrome%20center§ion=V I did look at them but I didn't care for the bent spokes at the time, I thought the straight ones from the 60's would help make the car unique....just didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time. Guest 421 Z
Very nice car!how about some pics of the rear suspension? Thanks for the compliments guys! I will show you what I have on the cp but need to look through all my old floppies to find better shots. Btw the orange tranny blew up last year and I painted it's replacement black to match the rest of the underbelly I also included a shot of my new shocktower bar that barely fits...I hope I never break a motormount! http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/Zprep019.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/Zprep015.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/Zprep012.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/Zprep002.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/MVC-071F.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/badbra/MVC-163S.jpg
Guest 421 Z
Welcome to hybridz.Sorry if I wasn't specific enough on info to allow you to post your pics but I just thought they were regular size. Anyway you are here now. I'm really impressed with your paintjob. Looking at it last Sunday at The MSA show I had no idea the Z was painted way back in 1989. Did you install the new strut bar yet? Be sure to let me know when you are going to the track with that monster. I might give you a few car lengths. Hanns You better spot me at least 10 hehe! and 1/4 mile only! my stroker needs some extra track to catch up with those twin turbos!...I am hoping to be ready to go when Calif speedway is setup to run again, I still need to get a neutral safety built for my clutch as well as a few other things before I get kicked off the track All the best! Guest 421 Z
Welcome to hybridz.Sorry if I wasn't specific enough on info to allow you to post your pics but I just thought they were regular size. Be sure to let me know when you are going to the track with that monster. I might give you a few car lengths. Hanns I was invited to race with my neighbors today at Irwindale who had the track rented out for the afternoon, there were over 20 VERY fast musclecars as well as pro class present! I had the only import there and one of the few street legal cars as well. It was my first ever 1/8 mile run and the first run with the new setup on the Z aside from the 1/4 dyno pulls at MSA. I opened up with a sad 8.30 spinning the tires all thru 3rd, next run 8.11 still not good. We removed the breather off the carb and lowered the tire pressure to 10lbs and ran the fastest time of 7.84 @ 94 mph still with the car not hooking up at all...sadly on my 4th run I broke the clutch halfway down the track and limped in with a 9.0. I was using BF Goodrich drag radials having heard good things about them but after watching all the guys going real fast were running MT slicks. Anyway just wanted to share my experience from today and even though I got my *** kicked by my buddys Chevelle running 6.60's I did win the 3rd race against a bitchen 74 Vega with a 383 6-71 blower topped off w/ double holly's (hehe) All the best, 421 Z
