Adjustable control arms ?

Mark,

We have sort of been behind the "informal" schedule we had due to Christmas, etc...Due to the design change we have to make up new jigs. Making the jigs was the hardest part!!! My Dad has been helping out some and has volunteered to make the new jigs (thank goodness!!!)and told me yesterday that he hopes to have them done by the end of next week. We have settled on a design for the rears and hope to have them done in about the same time frame as the fronts. All of the custom machine work needed has been completed for the prototype set. Due to having a cousin who is a machinsist is what is going to keep these things affordable for everyone, he volunteered to do the machining due to his interest in high performance cars, etc... I got an estimate from one machine shop to make the pieces for us and it would have cost ~$600/set just for the machine work!!!

Let me know if you have any questions, etc...

i dont think there is really much to the front arm so it could be tube with a plate inserted for the ball joint, but its so short anyway that when you box the inside in for a heim end it looks ok...

it would make sense if you did that and the TC rod in the same tube size and attach it with a clevis end or heim somewhat for looks. and NO binding in the suspension..

Jim,

I considering attempting a tubular front arm but, like Mike said, after boxing in the front for the adjustable components it just did not seem like it was worth the extra effort. It may be something I would consider later down the road. The problems I saw with the front was dealing with the sway bar mount, the TC mount and the ball joint mount. Believe it or not, fabricating the component itself is not the difficult part, it is making a well built jig to make every single one exactly the same.

As far as the rear arms are concerned, fabricating them from tubing is really not that difficult. There is much more "room" to play with the design in the rear and only the sway bar mount needs to be addressed.

I hope we can have a set of prototype arms done up very soon, the Holidays have put a damper on the schedule and the design change of the front arms required new jigs.
