280zwitha383
I started looking at getting two pipes out the back of my 280ZX and I just can't see it happening. I've thought about side pipes a lot but after looking at everything I think I can make an extremely simple exhaust by one single bend going behind the front tire, through a dynomax 12" 2 1/2" I/O muffler (per side) and out the fender right behind the front tires but not cutting into any foot room. It does not contradict Texas laws but I'm afraid it's going to be too loud. Any thoughts?
Guest 280ZForce
you should be able to have 1 side of the exhaust exit out the driver side and the 2nd pipe come to that same side and then wrap around the back of the gas tank and come out the passenger side. they have a system like this for the stock 280zx, so I'm sure you can make that work as well Just have a muffler w/ 2 inlets and 2 outlets that you can put I'm assuming after the diffy over to the driver side of the gas tank. hope you understand my theory. I understand everything up to this point. It's just comfortable right now for the single pipe and when I last talked to the exhaust shop that I usually take my stuff to they didn't even want to put a 3" pipe through there and gaurantee it wasn't going to rattle.... Guest 280ZForce
you could use header wrap on that portion of it to give it some sort of padding. would a 3" pipe fit up there? you might try 3" back to the muffler, then w/ the outlets be 2.5" if you are crammed for space. but if a 3" pipe will fit between the tank and bumper then go for it. but i would definately use the wrap for that section regardless of rattle or not. 280zwitha383
Well if all else fails maybe I'll do something like that, but I want to give this a shot and see how it will turn out. I think I'm going to go ahead and order the dynomax mufflers and two 180 bends with some pipe. I figure I'll just take the fenders off at first so if it never comes out right I won't have to try and do any patch work on them. Any thoughts?
