I want to know if I can use the caliper, rotor and hub on my 1977z. I will be using 17" rims and if it will work, will I have to use some kind of spacer or what all is needed to make this work if at all?

I guess it would help if you saw the whole question. I want to know if I can use the caliper, rotor and hub from a 1987-1989 300zx or zxt on my 1977z. I new I should have drank my coffee before I tried to post this question. I hope someone can answer my question. Thanks!

yes and no..

first there isnt really a 89 300 nissan had a overstock of 88's so they were left over for 89. some may have been retagged at the factory , but i dont think they actually made 89's--

all 87-88 are 5 lug, this will fit on the strut but using the calipers is the hard part.

better to dothe 4runner conversion or what i do. IMO..

SCCA member-MIKE Thank you for your answer I understand what you are saying about 88-89 that is when the factory started to feel the price crunch due to the cost of the car and and competition they started to loose money and well you the rest is history . When you say toyota you mean the ones off a 4x4 pick up right? Are the calipers off of a 1988 supra the same or are the smaller in everyway? If I use the four piston calipers off of a pick up I then use the rotor and hub off of the 300z. Will I need a spacer or anything else in order to complet the conversion? I was reading about the back brakes I think I will weld on the brackets like you were talking about. I need to stop my car I have warped my rotors before on my z. There is a lot of big hills with winding roads that are fun to drive but the down hill part really seems to heat those solid rotors up. THANK'S

scca: BS. there are 89 model year Zs. Production ended in feb 89, z32 production for 90 model year started a few months later.

The 87-89 front calipers will not fit straight onto a s30 strut. The hubs use the same bearings(I think so anyhow) and should fit right on. But they are 5 lug, and 87-89 is different for turbos and non.

MORGAN I want to change to five lug pattern, but can you tell me what the pattern size is on the turbo? I mean what other make of car would match up to it? I thought all 300z cars were 5 on 4.5" so maybe I learned something new and that's a good thing before I buy wheels because I got a deal I just couldn't pass up,and got them home only to find out they won't fit. I might as well add that I have the fiberglass camel gt road race kit from ARIZONA Z so I have lots of room for big tires an wheels. I just need to figure out what bolt patter I'm going to end up with. Like anyone else I like a deal and I do plan on up grading. There are lots of wrecking yards out here in california so that is where I plan to find most of my parts. If I have to fabricate a bracket for the rear brakes I will and the same for the front or add spacers. I just want to know that I can stop! So I might use z32 calipers in back and toyota's in front. I think that will work I hope. THANKS!

Shark, goto MikeSCCA's WEB site and look at the options he's got listed. I'm going to 5lug all aorund using his kit and the 4Runner option he lists for the front. However if you've got plans for wider or much bigger tires you might be better off with the Outlaws that he sells for even more stopping power and nice billet calipers smile.gif The 300Z hubs do bolt on up front but you will need spacers for it all to line up - Mike has these and has already done the research on how to fit it. BLKMGK! Thanks for your reply I think your right I need to just break loose And buy the good brakes and get over with. Is there a difference inthe size of the rotors on a 300zxt and a 300zx and do they both share the same bolt pattern. THANKS

if you mean z31 zx and zxt first only the ZXT are 5 lug ..

unitl 87-88 then all are 5 lug but then go to a floater hub/rotor cobination and not good for the conversions ( to a earlier 240)

they can be used but takes more work and a MUCH more expensive hat to go over the studs..

all the pics are on my site of most of the conversions.

all depends what you want to have int he end.
