Guest Anonymous
Sounds suspiciously like Gabriels. I've got some in the rear of my car which work OK; I think they're slightly up on stock. Mine have been in for about 4 years and are working well to date. My car's a '75 260Z, though, with the later larger diameter strut tubes so they're probably a different part # to yours. I don't have access to anything easily to confirm the part nos., though; anyone else have any ideas? As to compressed springs, if I understand you correctly, I don't think it matters. The springs are lightly compressed when they're in a car standing still anyhow.
Guest nustad
Hello all, I recently acquired a huge range of 240z parts from a guy who was building a road rally car. He never completed the job but he did collect a lot of good parts. Part of the collection was a complete rear suspension assembly and two sets of front suspension which have all been rebushed and painted. I pulled the springs off last night to see what sort of shocks were inside the strut tube for the rear suspension and found the following Plain black shock Made in the USA 734 603 P2042 6233 1760 It also had a message about not puncturing as contents were under pressure - suggesting some type of gas shock. I couldn't see any other markings. Does anyone know who might have made this? If so - what sort of firmness would these represent over stock. In addition how long should you leave springs, slightly compressed in the compressors? I am guessing this wouldn't matter too much.
