Guest jz
Asking for input. I have a 1976 280Z that I purchased and got running recently. It was running good until last week. The problem is at engine cold the car runs good, after warm up the car will idle and will not accelerate when throttle is pressed farther than idle position (TPS). I have slaved in a water temp sensor, checked for any loose connections in the engine bay. I own a factory manual and have a fuel injection book. Is there any specific direction of troubleshooting or part I should be looking at. The factory manual says look at the ignition also and I'm not real sure where to start on that. I did a search on the forum for loss of power and didn't see anything pertaining to my problem. Thanks, Joe Hansen
Guest jz
I did all the voltage and resistance checks on the trouble shooting tree. The fix was a dirty filter screen at the fuel pump. I performed a pressure check at the fuel rail and found the pressure fluctuated down to 0 psi with aggressive throttle movement. It's my understanding that the pump puts out 90psi and the fuel rail is maintained at 36.5psi. My pump is putting out 40psi and my fuel rail (according to my gage) is at 34psi and fluctuates between 30-40psi with aggressive throttle movement. Is this normal or are my pump and fuel regulator in question? Also I placed this thread in L28 engine when I suppose it should be in fuel FI forum. Thanks Joe
