Guest nwcubsman
Hopefully I am not dreaming, but I am wanting to buy a flywheel from the early 80s/late 70s Datsun 810/Maxima. If you can help, please e-mail me at nwcubsman@yahoo.com. I am in Oregon but willing to search outside the local area. Thx, Bryan
savageskaterkid
You posted in two diffrent locations, and not one of them was right. It should be in the Wanted section of the buy-sell forums.

Yes, the post in the general 6 cylinder forum, was accidental, when I went back to view, I didn't see it, so I thought it wouldn't be found by anyone that could help. I did post in the classifieds, twice, with no response, so I thougth I'd plead for a flywheel where a few more people would see it. Sorry, if you are offended. Zmanco
Why don't you just get your existing flywheel lightened? I had my stock L28 lightened from 23# to 16.5# using just a lathe (to keep the cost down). Everything came off the outer edge where it matters most. Going any further would have required machining and more $$$. Including resurfacing and rebalancing the total cost was about $120. That's about the same weight as the Maxima flywheel, and if you figure you'll still need to get the used flywheel resurfaced and pay for shipping, I doubt you'd save much if any money with the Maxima. Going any further would have required machining and more $$$. I looked into lightening today. A local machine shop quoted $100 which sounds very good, including resurface and balance. My only concern is that I don't know any machinist personally, and can't feel confident in their judgement of where and how much weight to remove. He wouldnt comment on how much weight could be removed. It would only cost $85 including core charge to replace at the local auto parts store, so I guess the risk isn't that huge. Other than time to replace if it didn't work out well. Considering, I've been looking for the Maxima flywheel or about 3-4 weeks, I guess I will end up with the machine shop.
