JessZ
I'm doing an engine swap this weekend on a whim for a guy who is buying my L28 long block. I need a little advice before I commit. I don't want to steer this guy in the wrong direction. 1. Can the L28 (N42/N42), which will run off SU's, use his L24's fuel pump and dizzy? 2. And, I know I will probably get knocked for this one but I have to check, will his L24 flywheel, which is matted to a turbo tranny, bolt right up to the L28? 3. Will his exhaust manifold that is bolted to his early E88 bolt up to the N42 head? Praise in advance. Ya'll kick AZZ.
Zmanco
Short answers: yes, yes, yes. Better to use an intake manifold gasket for the early 70-73 since you're using carbs. You will probably have to swap the dizzy mount from the L24 to the L28.
zuhow
I think 1 is a NO if I remember correctly, the N42 doesn't have an opening for the mechanical fuel pump that runs off the cam gear eccentric.

I believe it was the N47 that followed after the N42 where the "opening" became closed.

I believe it was the N47 that followed after the N42 where the "opening" became closed. Double check under the block off plate. The F54 block has the block off plate location, but no spot opening in the block. the '73 240Z used both the mechanical FP as well as an electrical in front of the gas tank. If it is a '73, you are good to go. You do need to run some type of low pressure fuel pump. The 240Z FP is NLA from Nissan. Tried that a couple of weeks ago. A contact could get one through Canada, but $450. I suggest an old VW Rabbit pump or the carburated Maxda RX7 pump. Good luck. I am just preparing to do that same swap into one of my 240Z's. Let us know how it went. Bryan

The mechanical fuel pump bolts to the head, not the block. The N42 head has an opening for a mechanical fuel pump, the N47 does not.
