Guest Anonymous Posted July 22, 2001 Share Posted July 22, 2001 the car is a 76 280Z with Suspension Techniques springs. just the outside 1/2"-3/4" rub. would 205/50/15s not rub? or has anyone flared their fenders to make wider tires fit? how would one go about flaring the fenders? thanx.... Look for 'Roll the fenderwells' or 'Roll' in the search engine of the forum, there was a discussion how this can be done. I've got 205/55/15's in front but come closer to rubbing the inside not the outside, but then again I'm using 4.5" bs weld wheels. I can slip maybe the very tip of my finger between the spring and the tire. I'll know more when its a bit lower (with the same springs your using actually) but don't think I'll have a problem at all. Guest DATTO Posted July 23, 2001 Share Posted July 23, 2001 well i had 0 offset 15 by 7 panasports with 225 50 tires as well. i have motorsport springs that were cut to be lower. i rolled my fender in and it solved the problem. there are many ways to roll the fender, i for one used a rubber hammer, my car was primered at the time....but another way is if you have a dremel or similar type tool, you can cut several slits inside the fender lip and one by one bend them in. that could be easy and clean without risking your cars paint...take it easy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Anonymous Posted July 23, 2001 Share Posted July 23, 2001 thanx for the info guys. this car actually has the front fenders off right now. i just noticed the rubber missing off of the front tires and the previous owner told me what had happened. i'm not too concerned about cracking the paint cause the body is getting a face lift right now anyway. the whole car is going to get repainted soon so i might as well fix these fenders before the paint job. i'll check the archieves when i get up. Guest Anonymous Posted July 23, 2001 Share Posted July 23, 2001 If the fenders are off the car, cool deal, just cut pie cuts as mentioned above and a hammer and dolly and gently tap each pie section of the inner fender up and out of the way. You could then either fill the pie sections with steel or maybe just por15 them or something, I wouldn't use filler though in the backside, the water will leach in and it'll fall out. Whichever way you do it, you'll need to use a Por15 or Corless or whatever to keep the thing from rusting. Good luck with it.
