Rumnhammer
Hi all, just wanted to post a couple of pics of the exhaust I made for my friends Z that I did an RB25DET swap into. This is a 3inch mandrel bent stainless exhaust with a Borla XR1 muffler on the end. The turbo has been replaced with an HKS GT2540 with an HKS upper split downpipe, going into a Megan racing lower downpipe that I had to modify for use in the Z. This thing sounds great, actually not to loud, probably because it has a turbo on it, I doubt you could live with it on a normally asperated car. Guest 280ZForce
looks good in SS, but I'd tuck that piping up a lil higher closer to the diff and that muffler tip maybe a lil higher up as well about 1" or less down from that semi-circle cut out. my exhaust system was put back on wrong by the last shop and it was hanging low by the diff, right about where yours shows and I was scraping when I would hit an uneven dip on the freeway even. Rumnhammer
The muffler is the part that is actually mounted like you recomend, just hard to see from that shot, if I got a pic straight on you could tell, and the end of the muffler is out farther then it looks in the pic because I wanted a bit of distance, just in case of the likely event of a burst of fire coming out of it. The exhaust is actually quite to the left of the stock cutout and was not coming close to going up into the cutout, without extra bends in it. ground clearance is really not too bad, believe it or not, although this car is still stock ride height, but we are not going to lower it much more then an inch from this anyway. Guest 280ZForce
ok cool. I'm lowered about 1.5" or so, whatever the tokico strut/spring combo drops. Here's a few pics of my 3" mandrel bent exhaust system, just snapped a few shots off in the garage. Click pics to enlarge...
