Guest Mike
I recently pulled the heads on my SBC 350 but I didn't pull the cam to determine its origin. I have the so-called "build sheet" I inherited from the previous owner but that's just a meaningless list without a modicum of specificity. The cam (hydraulic flat tappet) is stated to have 480 lift and 260 duration. I found a few receipts dated early-mid '03 but the cam isn't listed. Does anyone know what brand this MIGHT be? If these numbers are exact, I'm sure there are few possibilities.
dustin280zx
you'd have to get the part number. all the cam companies can custom make a cam for you so just because its that certain lift, lobe seperation, ect. it could be a comp, crane, isky, or whatever
Guest Mike
Yeah, you're right. I never considered that it might be a custom grind. Since I'm replacing this motor soon anyway, I doubt I'll bother to pull it.
jbk240z
The cam should have some numbers stamped on the nose where the timing gear is.........check it out.
Guest Mike
jbk240z... THANKS!! I thought this might be the case but I didn't want to take the time or spend the $ for gaskets without some assurance. I'll pull the cover and look.
