Guest RXO510
New to the V8Z world. Just wondering what the widest rims are that I can fit on a Z without any suspension mods. I'm probably going to get some 15" rims. Please let me know the tire size also. Or even alittle mod is ok as long as I can do it myself. Thanks
ZROSSA
Howdy, My 280zx 2+2 had 225/50/15s on the front on a 7 inch rim ans245/50/15s on the rear with a 7.5 inch rim. It was slightly lowered (about an inch) and never rubbed. My 260z 2+2 has 225/50/16s all round and is about 2 inches lower than standeard and doesnt rubb. I think 245 is about as wide as you can go on the rear without going to coil overs. This has been covered before here so do a little search. Guest RXO510
Thanks for the info. My Z's front rims will probably be a 15 x 7 inch rim with either 195 or 205 - 50 -15's. The back will be 15 x 8 or 8.5 with 215 or 225 - 50 - 15. A bit wider than the 7.5 rear rims you used on your Z. But my tires are a couple of sizes smaller than yours. I hope it works out. Did you roll in the lips of the fender wells to help clear the tires or anything? Please let me know. Thanks. I looked back to the other posts but didn't see it. I will go back farther and look at all the posts. Thanks again.
DavyZ
RXO510, Make good use of the "search" function near the upper right portion of your screen--it'll pull down specific information for you from ages past to the present. I find it very informative and useful!! Davy
Guest RXO510
Thanks for the info. I just went through all the posts and got alot of information. Although some of it is contradicting I guess the best thing to do is just do it. I have some rims I can try out so that is what I'll be doing this weekend. Probably going to go with the coilovers anyways. I gathered from all the posts that it's the best thing to do to fit in wider rims and tires. Thanks!
