gretchen/jason
Ive read articles in hot rod mags about methanol injection claims of 40-80 horses added to youre ride and how it helps in high boost aplicaitions . Im running a sbc 350 with a supercharger and about 8-9 lbs of boost what affect does meth injection have on a engine ? Does it actuall add any power like NOS does , and is it even needed with a compression ratio of about 10.1 ;1 . I get loads of the stuff at work " very potent winsshield washer fluid " stuf is pretty flamable untill its diluted with watter . devilsown
No, it does not directly add power like nitrous. It does cool the intake charge and add more octane. Doing this allows you to run more boost and timing that you would without. Adverage would be 2 more psi and 1-2 deg of advance. Most apps make 20-30 hp. If you take a car thats not tuned and put meth on it and then tune it you can get inflated number.
