Finally starting the 300ZXJ40 suspension

Recommended Posts

Once again the engine and trany are coming out of the Z31. I just got the bushings for the rebuild on my XJ40 suspension. The struts and crossmember are history, and I'll be loosing the strut towers in the fender wells. I've been kicking the idea of a tilt front end, with stainless inner panels. The motor is going to be mounted with an engine plate to help stiffen the chassis, while a new cross member will go in the back. We3 are still deciding whether of not to move the firewall back a couple inches and replacing it with light guage stainless steel. (Us unsophisticated types likes shiny things)

In tyhe rear, I'm building a sort of backhalf subframe to mount the rear suspension. The rear end is out of the same xj6, and is a limited slip dana 44, in the Salisbury housing. (I wanted to build it as a quick change, but you have to draw the line someplace) I have a full new set of Brembo brakes sitting in the garage to be installed as I do the suspension.

If anyone is interested I shoould have all the stuff from the under the car in a month or so and would like to sell it for a good price. I'll make a list as I pull it out and see what shape it's in.
