Guest WhatBoost?
i just got my car and i didnt come with carbs and intake manifold, so i found the manifold from a 260Z and the carbs from a 240Z. but i noticed the manifold has EGR and other crap i dont need, so what i did was put a plate to block the upper part of the manifold. oh i kept the upper part because of the linkage or else i wouldnt of used it. well im just wondering if anyone has done this or is there a better way to do this? it should run just fine right? do the 240Z manifolds also have the upper part of the manifold, cuz i havent seen one yet? oh and how many quarts of oil does an L24 take, my dipstick is missing the rubber stopper thing. OlderThanMe
it needs the crossbar that conects the two manifolds...just grind off all the unnecessary junk and leave at least one NPT fitting so you can measure vacuum. and a L24 uses 5 quarts of oil...You really need to get a haynes manual... 260pos
If you find a balance tube from a ’70-’71 240, it won’t have the big honking EGR, water, and exhaust passages on it. ztherapy has a nice solution, but it is kinda pricey. randy 77zt
thats a euro balence tube-i think courtesy nissan sells those-but anything new wont be cheap.if you find a balence tube minus egr you can plug up excess ports with brass plugs-all are standard pipe thread.try local hardware store. 260pos
I was under the impression that the threads weren’t NPT, but that they were BPTT (British Pipe Thread Tapered). Think of all the money I could have saved on rubber plugs! Might want to check that, I will too.
