water cooled turbo and oil cooler

A water-cooled turbocharger centre assembly is designed to stabilize the assembly's temperate.

An oil cooler is designed to stabilize the temperate of the oil for the entire engine (including turbocharger) system.

Two rather different jobs in my opinion, and whether or not you need an oil cooler will depend more on the intended application than on whether or not the turbocharger is water-cooled. I think.

well i was wondering because the na motor douse not have a oil cooler and the reason nassin added one to the turbo car was because of the added heat from the turbo. i was just wondering if the water cooled turbo would dissipate enough heat to get rid of the need for the oil cooler. i'm putting a turbo on an na motor and i already have a water cooled t3 so i just don't want to buy an oil cooler if i don't have to. also do i need the oil pump from a turbo motor or they the same?

thanks

I have a buddy with a 92 Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo granted its not a z but most Mitsubishis that have turbos have Oil and water cooled turbos .

The water cools of course via the radiator then they have a seperate oil cooler . Must work they still use it today . Heck they have gone as far as to have water cooled transfer cases on the all wheel drive cars and suv's .

Id run a oil cooler seems ya cant go wrong if its been used since 1992 not sure about before that .
