Guest Night_rider_383
Hey. been awhile since i last posted. Seems like i'm building a 1978 trans am now. I got a real good deal on it so i had to grab it. Here goes my ??? i'm looking to build a low 10 sec car. I have been cuttin alot of weight off the car to get it light enough. My firewall and floor pans is stock i know NHRA says for stock firewall and pans you can run 10 flat with a 8 point roll bar. I know i wont be under 10 sec for a few years but should i go ahead and get a roll cage to help stiffing the chassis up. On the chassis so far i welded in ssm subframe connectors, replaced the rubber body bushing with soild alum. ones. Will be useing soild 1/4'' plate steel motor mounts. Will the weight of a full cage like a 10 or 12 point with front subframe braces hurt me more than the extra stiffens will help me?? I already have the car gutted, the next thing i need to do is my roll bar/cage so could yall give me your takes on what way i should go. Also what would be the diff. in weight on the 8 point bar, 8 point cage, 10 point cage and the 12 point cage??? Dont have the money or tools to deal with C/M bars so i will be useing the steel ones Thamks a bunch for any help
