280zwitha383
I know I'm dangerous so I thought I would ask before I try this. I have a 12v power inverter and I just loaded Megatune 2.25 onto my OLD trusty laptop. All I really want to do is establish that I CAN communicate between the two (maybe retrieve the VE table from it or something similar). From the diagram I get that wires 7,8,9,10,11, and 15 are grounds and wire 28 is just straight power. No fuse but I've used the inverter many times and never burned anything up yet and don't plan on crossing any wires. Is this a sound idea? Why so many grounds? Thanks. 280zwitha383
Well...... The middle light comes on and then goes off after a few seconds. Nothing else.
olie05
do you have a stim board to hook up to it? otherwise thats probably all you will get. The stim board completes the circuits for the iat, o2, clt, rpm, and tps, as well as providing power. get one! on another note, you should be able to connect with your pc by just providing power. 280zwitha383
Have you done it before? I piddled with it for a few minutes and figured it needed something more and that I needed to figure out what the lights are among many other things. I tried to test the connection while the light was still on and nothing changed. Maybe I'll try it with one of my desktops tomorrow.
Matt Cramer
You can connect to a PC by just providing power and ground. However, you won't get the lights to blink that way, as it needs a tach input for those lights to come on.
280zwitha383
Ok, I got it connected to my desktop and poked around a little bit. I'll have to spend a little time and try to figure out what's using my COM1 port on my laptop. It just says unable to open in Megatune and Hyperterminal says that another program is using it. Any ideas? I've got an old Armada, 233mhz, 160mb ram, windows XP. I'm about to compare running services in msconfig. If that doesn't work I really don't have much more of a clue. I've already closed every running program other than the system files with no luck.
280zwitha383
Turns out my Serial port was conflicting with the IR port. I changed the IRQ and I'm in business now. I wish I could change the title of this thing. I sound illiterate.
