OK guys, I'm getting ready to redo the brakes on my 1972 240z and require new calipers, rotors, and pads. I'm also gonna buy Stainless Steel lines. The best deal, BY FAR, is from NOPI. As I'm not a rice-boy, I'm barely familiar with NOPI. Anyone had any experiences with them? I don't really wanna pay sky-high vic-british prices on somehthing that I'm gonna replace with hi-perf calipers/vented rotors/5lug conversion/ 5 lug wheels in a year or two.

If you are after a temporary fix that will be replaced in a year or so. Go to a junkyard for the hardware and get some new cheap brake pads and shoes at the store.. As for your "permanent" stainless steel brake lines, do some research since there has been some excellent posts on the ins and outs of fitting stainless steel lines (and the required fittings). The only reason for buying calipers and discs and rotars new is if you want to save them and put on another Z later on. You might be able to rebuild your calipers and the rotars may have enough thickness to be machine turned, same with rear brake drums.Every thing is used after you buy it >Some people do not like second hand . About the only thing I will not buy is used under shorts. For example , I just purchased a 750 CFM Edelbrock carburator for $25.00 which also came in the deal was a custom set of Chev small block valve covers. I figured the valve covers (unused) were worth $20.00 to me and I got the recently rebuilt Edelbrock for actually $5.00 which I will either keep, sell or eventually trade off.I do not like used radiators either . You want catch me driving a car with a used radiator in a pair of used under shorts.

Think of NOPI as the Summit Racing of the import world. They are a 'warehouse' of parts, but most of them are shipped from the manufacturers I believe. The parts are only as good as the brands they carry--if it is a generic part, your guess is as good as mine.

theres enough guys/gals? (we do seem to be short of women on this board! ;) )here who have bought the msa or x-drilled setups and then upgrade so you should be able to find a used - but as new set of calipers and rotors here....

do them a favor and buy their old stuff....

I never would've imagined anyone replacing stock stuff, so, I'm not sure why I kept the stuff, but, I think I do still have all of it. The rotors (do I still have those?) would likely need to be turned. But everything was working when I took it off the car about a year ago. May still even have pads.

If you're interested, email me. I wouldn't need anything beyond shipping charges and some incentive to clean the stuff off and box it up...

I ordered from NOPI and here's why. I need new calipers and rotors, mine are rusted too badly to be an exchange. Here in the rustbelt, all the 70-78 Z-cars in the junkyard have long been reduced to crushed metal boxes. In the short run, I need the car driveable. My plan is to first, get the car running and drive it this summer while I do bodywork and get it painted. This winter, I'll drop in the V8/trans/R200. Next spring, I'll buy the 5-lug conversion/brake upgrade/coilover kit/American Racing 17x9.5 torque-thrust mags with tires. I already ordered my brake bits because I didn't see any stock pieces for sale and NEED to get this car on the road. Hope that makes sense to someone besides me...
