Big Race brake question(Mike/SCCA)

OK, I'm looking into installing 12.2", 1.25" thick Wilwood 48 curved vane H/D rotors. I just won the bidding on a pair of Wilwood Superlite calipers with 1.75" pistons and for the 1.25" thick rotor(although my book says they only make the 1.75"piston caliper for the 1.38 thick rotor). I haven't received the calipers yet, as I just won auction. I have some questions. First question is about front/rear brake rotor sizes. I would like to run the same brakes front and rear. Does anyone see a problem with using the same rotors/calipers front and rear? I can use a prop. valve to adjust brake bias, correct? How about if I use the 1.75" piston calipers up front and use the 1.38" piston calipers on the rear?

Mike/SCCA, I live less than 10 miles from Stock Car Products here in Richmond VA. I would like to buy the brake parts here for ease of availability, and convenience. Your prices are fair, but here I would not have to pay shipping and such. Do you think your hub adapters will fit the Wilwood rotors? They all seem universal, as long as you get the same bolt circle. I want to keep 4 lug as I have a very expensive set of wheels that I don't want to part with. I'm not trying to take anything from you, I just NEED to save a buck or two. If I'm asking too much, I hope you will let me know. Also, if anything I have written is unclear, please let me know.

1.75 will give you a SOOOFFFTT pedal. 1.38 is the right size on rear.

rotors are interchangeable but IMO COleman rotors are better than wilwood. IF you get a std size.

you will need a HONKIN master cylinder and a prop valve.

i have a pair of hats here done for 4 lug

$250 pr. these will work on the back of a Z hub and a 12.19 x 1.25 (8 on 7 ) will bolt up, you will need to make your own caliper brackets, and it all may not line up depending on your hub and such. but the rotor will bolt to this hat and the hat to the hub, from there your on your own.

Thanks Mike for the quick response, maybe I should have posted the questions before bidding on the 1.75" calipers twak.gif . Oh well, How about the 300ZX(Z32)master cylinder that has been mentioned here recently? Was I reading correctly when it said it had a 1 1/16" bore? As for your second post. If I understand correctly, you have a set of hub adapters to use the standard size rotor mounted to the back of the early Zcar(70-78) hub. Another question for you. Do your 300ZX(Z31) hub adapters set the wheel out alittle more than stock or are they about the same as stock? If so, can I use 4 lug Z31 front hubs instead? I could stand to move my wheel out about 1". I have Steeda Pentar wheels that I had re-drilled for the Datsun pattern. They are a 17"x8.5" wheel with a 5.25" rear spacing. They are fitted with 275/40/17 tires(will rub inside with out spacers). Actually puts the wheel under stock wheel wells, but I have bolt-on ZG flares and want the wheel to come to the edge(or in alittle) of the flare. I am prepared to use bolt on spacers of high quality.

BTW, do you know if a triple master cylinder assembly will fit with a V8?

Thanks again for your help.

A freind of mine is giving me 2 Wilwood MC's. One is a 1" bore, and the other is a 7/8" bore. They are the remote reservoir type(actually, they have a couple of differant mounting set-ups included). My freind is also giving me the pedal assembly for the MC's. I think it has a balance bar. Do you think that will be enough MC(the 1" one) for those 1.75" piston calipers?
