Guest Anonymous
Went prowling around a few salvage yards today; saw a few 240SX's and several 300ZX's. These rears look different. No strut, but a coil spring and shock setup instead. Looks like it could be made to work simply by welding tabs on my existing frame rails for the crossmember and installing a crossmember/mount just behind the top of the rail arch like I'd planned. A bit wider than my stock axle, but that gives me an excuse to use the large backspace 16" or 17" wheels to pull the tires back under the fenders. Are these good rears to use? Guest Anonymous
Oh yeah, nearly forgot. I found one 280ZX (early 80's, I think). This looks to be the easiest irs to adapt and is the same width across the brakes as my 8". Trouble is, 4-lug brakes. Should I consider this at all? Would it be hard to convert to 5-lug 4.5" pattern? (Usually, if I pick something because it LOOKS easy, it usually winds up taking twice the effort...or money.)
Guest Anonymous
Ok, latest findings. No Q45 suspensions available. Going price $500. T-bird or Cougar irs going price (depending on year) $500 - $700. 280ZX, 240SX, 300ZX rear setup $350. BTW, the T-bird is nice but too wide and doesn't look to be an easy narrowing job.
