Guest derf360
then engine is stock.. i bought it 3 months ago not running and it was a rebuilt motor... all i needed to do was to bypass the ignition interlock relay to get it to turn over and run.. im not that mechanicly inclined with dianostics, but tell me the problem and i can fix it.. basicly... any ways.. i re wired it so when it would go to start mode it would just ignore the relay and start, so when its not in start mode it would still function assuming the relay was stuck the other way.. anyways.. when i got it running ive experienced rough idle when engine is warm and under heavy acceleration the engine will bog out.. putting it prospective... if u ever drove a manual car and the engine shut off.. thats wat it would seem like.. it has a new coil that i put in.. new plug wires, new looking plugs, and distriburator. so its not that causeing the problems.. so im thinking that since the first carb is running rich it may be causeing the problems... i looked in the carb to see if the throtle opening up all the way under full acceleration and i noticed the one dosent open up as quickly as the other one.. the one opening slower is the one running rich.. like the diffrence between the spark plugs is like night and day.. so any help would be nice. thank you
OlderThanMe
Your SUs probably need a rebuild. WHat you can do is play with the settings a little bit. If the car is idling you should be able to lift one of the SU pistons to the top and it should just barely run. Once both of them run the same then you are close. You could just find some rebuilt early 240Z style roundtop SU carburetors and be done with it... That would be the easy thing to do.
Guest derf360
buying new carbs and rebuilding them is a problem.. just because a zz383 is going into this winter.. but just having it sit in the garage is no fun at all.. plus when i adjust the carb, i forgot to mention, will the backfire through the carb go away or is that a timing issue too? OlderThanMe
I think that would be a timing issue. Read this thread that Speeder wrote: http://www.flzclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=
