Guest Anonymous
I need help. I've changed all four wheels on my 77 280Z to 5X4.5 pattern. Fronts are from an 87 300ZX and rears were redrilled by modern motorsports. The calipers I sourced for the rear are from a 1992 240SX. Rear rotors are from Victoria British for a 1987 300ZX. Caliper mounting bracket is from Modern Motorsports. When the combo is bolted together, the calipers don't fit. What have I done wrong? Guest scca
you should be contacting ross for fitment issues but i will tell you that you have the wrong rotors --- 87 use a vented rotor and the bracket (my original creation) is meant for a 84-6 rotor NOT a 87-88 one AFAIK all 87+ 300 are vented you should have a solid 11.3" od rotor
Guest Anonymous
One question im thinking about doing the swap for the rears from modernmotorsports.com too. Is there a fitment problem with some rims?? Ive just gotten done installing my toyota 4 pistons, and the swastica rims wont fit. Just trying to make sure so i wont buy any rims that will clear the front calipers, but not the rear... thanks, franklin
Guest Anonymous
Hey, Mike. Thanks for responding. I want to make sure I'm ordering the right thing from Victoria British since this will be the third set of rear rotors I've ordered from them for this project. They made a mistake on my first order and sent me rotors for a '77 280Z, which is what they had on file for me, and now it looks like I was working off of some bad information when I ordered the second set. Ross indicated that the rotors need to be 11 3/8", which is pretty close to the 11.3 you mentioned. The challenge is that the order entry folks apparently don't have the ability to look up rotors by dimension, only by vehicle. So, if I order '85 300ZX rear rotors from Victoria British, will they be five lug and the correct diameter?
Guest Mr. Big Business
I think the rotor size for the rear of the 300zx changed sometime mid '85 year, so you might want to be safe and get the rear rotor for an '84 300zx (no turbo, if that matters). I ended up just going to trak auto and picking up a pair, because I'm impatient, and didn't want to deal with shipping them back if they didn't fit. I don't suppose that will work for you, though, since you have 5 lugs, and the stock rotors are 4 lug. With regards to the rear wheels fitting, I just got done installing my rear disc converson from www.outlawbrakes.com and my 14" rims just barely scrape the 240sx calipers. I could probably file enough material off of the caliper to stop the scaping, but I'm upgrading to 16" rims anyway. Henry
Trevor
Shouldn't that be '85 300ZXT to get the 5 lug circle?
Guest Anonymous
There should be caution excersized in buying wheels to bolt on these new disc and rotar combinations. I had some after market 14's that fit great on the Toyota front calipers but my new wheels will not which will force me to get some long studs from a Nissan Qwest Van and make some aluminum adapter plates at least 3/8 inch thick which will offset the wheel and tire further out from the fenderline.
