Guest 84meano Posted June 7, 2007 Share Posted June 7, 2007 Hi everyone, I'm very new to the forums but that doesn't mean I haven't been looking on the site. Few know but two days ago I shelled 250 out for a 1982 Datsun 280ZX. *Little background, I have a 84 El Camino SS. I'll probably be doing lots of asteriks to outline key points. *Dad doesn't want me to pay for, have, consider thinking, owning a 280ZX because for one I already have a car. He knows when I get things going a small-block will go in it. Plus he says that Sonic is the best job I can get after high school. Also, he thinks he knows what goes on in my head but he doesn't think I'm going to college. Anyway not to preach or convay my short-term future goals but honestly he can kiss my ass on this one. Any way here it goes, men of intellect and consumers of words and bargainings help me. Here's my situation I've been looking for anyother car pretty much since I got my first one. I've looked in 300ZX, 300ZX 2+2 Turbo, and 280ZX's. So I finally stumble across a 280ZX sitting in a car lot near my job, I got to look at it. First day it looks soild and alright condition, so I take it for a test drive and had an absolute blast. I'm completely addicted to this car. I get my second paycheck which is an honest 285 dollars which I hardely worked those two weeks anyway. I walk up to the car and start looking, mild rust in very few places on the body which are a tiny quarter sized rust hole in the bottom left trunk/floorspace. No big deal. Bottom left quarter panel has some mild rust at the bottom, no biggie still. Then I poke under the car and find that the frame on the unibody has the bottom rusted almost out from engine mount to tranny mount on both frame rails. Mind it is only the bottom of the frame, nothing some metal, welder, grinder, and epoxy can't fix. Suspension is worn a little, not too bad, but not too good either. It's got a little oil spot where it's leaking oil from the oil filter plug. Also, has 159,301 miles on it and Carfax says it's had 13 reports. If anyone has carfax account could you please send me the reports, I'll SM the VIN number. *Price for this car is at an honestly high priced of 1995 which equals out by my reciept of 2330. No damn way I''m I pay this; so can someone please tell me how far I've gotten myself screwed over and if there is or is any way of getting out of paying that much with what's been said? *I've put 250 for a hold and got a reciept that has apperently looks like we have ourselves an agreed price. I tried to talk him down to 1650 but I gave in to getting a hold on the car so I know it'll be mine. *Insurance for both cars is 362 a month which is alright because I can afford that and I still have till November on the El Camino. Can someone help me arm myself better with the information above and try to talk him down on a price if I can. I'm gonna try anyway but last time I looked like a damn fool talking him down. Pointed out the frame rails last time, any help would really be apprieciated by me and my wallet. I'm sooooo sorry for the double post.
