Guest along4
I just bought this beautiful 1977 280Z hybridized with a Chev. 350 crate motor and an 80's Camaro tranny. I did not think it was an issue at first, but the tight manual steering is a real problem. When searching the posts, most people say that tight manuvering in a parking lot is a pain, but at speed it is just fine. I have the same parking lot problem, but the steering gets tougher as the car goes faster. I need both hands to crank the wheel around turns and can not shift when needed. I think this is because it may have had its caster angle modified, and quick steering arms installed. Questions: Can someone give the length of the stock steering arms? Is there a way I can see if the caster was changed without moving the strut mount? (strut mounts look stock) Any other suggestions as to why this is happening? The measurement from the front strut mounting bolt to the tie rod end bolt centerline is right on at 2 3/4". Click image for full size.
