Guest samstrat
I have a '76, but am running a holley 4-bbl, an MSD 6al and an MSD Blaster SS coil and stock distributor. The car is used 100% for autocross/strip and has no lights, nothing. Does the MSD setup take the place of the transistor ignition unit? I am assuming that since the earlier carbed Zs did not have the TIU, and mine is now basically the same as that, that I don't need the TIU any more. Am I correct? thanks
speeder
You can eliminate the stock 280Z spark box by connecting the distributor's pickup coil (red and green wires) to the MSD's VR input ( purple and green wires, respectively). If you are currently using the MSD's white wire to trigger then the MSD is being fed from the stock "TIU".
